God of all creation,
As we journey together in this Great Southern Land
We pray for healing, forgiveness, and unity,
Creating a path of good will, with justice and compassion.

Jesus, through the power of your love,
You have given us the courage, wisdom, and strength
To share our gifts and talents in humility.
In peace and understanding we reconcile with each other.
Creator Spirit, we come together in prayer and thanksgiving
For the many blessings we have received.
Allow your Spirit to wash over us and give us strength to walk together as one.

Amen.

A Message from the Principal

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Who can believe that the end of term is upon us already? This term has absolutely flown by!!

Jump Rope for Heart
Our Year 1-6 students capped off the week with a Jump Rope for Heart spectacular on Friday afternoon. Each class showcased their skipping prowess during the various stations that Mrs Matthews set up and performed skipping routines they had been practising with their peers over the past few weeks. It was lovely to see students and staff coming together to enjoy a bit of exercise and share their skipping skills with one another. It was a great way to end a busy week.

Sausage Sizzle
As part of our NAIDOC Week celebrations, On Thursday, our students will be having a sausage sizzle lunch. Please remember to send your child to school on Thursday with a $2 coin.

Mac Desktop Computers
The 2013 model Mac computers at the back of our Library are up for sale – $350 each. Our IT technician has wiped and reset the computers to factory settings. They retail online for $700-$1000. If you would like one, please come along with your money (cash please) and see Margaret or Marni at the front office.

NAIDOC Week Liturgy
We are looking forward to having our beautiful PP students lead us through our NAIDOC Week Liturgy on Friday morning. Having our students dress in the colours of the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander flag will be an incredible sight, reflecting our unity, particularly when we come together as a school in our undercover area to celebrate our liturgy. Our parents are most welcome to join us.

Please check out the City of South Perth website for local NAIDOC Week celebrations. There will be a flag raising ceremony, kids arts and crafts stations and story-time sessions scheduled throughout the first week of the school holidays. This year’s theme is ‘Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up!’

Reports
Tomorrow afternoon, the Semester One Reports will be accessible by parents on SEQTA Engage. Our students and staff deserve to be commended for all their efforts this semester; it has certainly been a semester like no other with various individuals away with COVID-19 at different times.

In addition to reading your child’s report, it would be lovely if you could sit down and look through their electronic portfolios on Seesaw together. This would provide a wonderful opportunity for your child to share their learning journey and for you as parents to gain a greater insight into their progress thus far.

Year 3-6 Quiz night
Thanks to our dedicated P&F, our Year 3-6 students enjoyed a fun filled Quiz night last Friday. Right from the get-go there was a strong buzz of energy and excitement among our student participants. They all looked amazing in their outfits and put in a solid team effort during both the quiz rounds and the ‘minute to win it’ games. By the middle of the night, our eager quiz masters finally learnt not to shout out their answers to the questions. A pizza dinner was enjoyed mid-way through the night and successfully fuelled our students to the end of the event. Mr Inferrera and Mr Hughes did a brilliant job calling out the quiz questions and keeping the children entertained with their comedic banter; they even belted out a tune or two, showing off their array of talents.

As we all know, these nights don’t just happen. Our P&F members, particularly Brooke Lumsden, Kristie Ranger and Martina Tribe, spent copious days and hours preparing the questions, games, prizes, decorations and food for the evening. We are incredibly grateful for our P&Fs dedication and commitment to creating joyous memories for our students. Nights such as these will be talked about by our students for years to come.

Wishing you all a gentle end to the week.

I hope our students enjoy their two week break from school. For those parents who are fortunate to have some time off from work during the school holidays, I hope you have a restful break with your family.

God Bless,

Melissa Vranjes
Principal

Kindy Sci-Tech Visit

This term in Kindy we have been learning about our Five Senses. To conclude our learning on this unit the children in Kindy had a visit from the wonderful team at Sci-Tech. They brought their big red truck to St. Pius X and unloaded all their science toys for us to play with. We experimented with sound and light toys and had a go at being little Engineers for the morning. The children conducted floating and magnetic experiments as well as exploring insects with magnifying glasses.

But most of all we had fun learning about Science and how important it is in our daily lives!
