Principal's News
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Last weekend, we celebrated Father’s Day and gave thanks for the fathers, grandfathers and father figures who play such an important role in the lives of our children.
Throughout Scripture, we see the quiet yet powerful example of St Joseph. Although no spoken words of his are recorded in the Bible, his actions reveal a man of deep faith, courage and devotion. Joseph provided guidance, protection and love as Jesus was growing up, helping to shape the person he would become. His example reminds us that some of life’s most important lessons are taught not through words, but through presence and care.
Our fathers and father figures continue to play this important role in the lives of our students today. Through everyday moments, they teach resilience, kindness, responsibility and faith. As I reflect on my own Dad, I am grateful for the lessons he taught me about the importance of my faith, a strong work ethic, respect and also how to whistle! These gifts have stayed with me throughout my life and serve as a reminder that the influence of a father often extends far beyond childhood.
To all the fathers, grandfathers and special father figures in our community, I hope you enjoyed a wonderful Father’s Day and felt appreciated for the many ways you support and nurture your families.
Parish Mass
Due to a number of parish events, this term’s Parish Family Mass has been cancelled. Our next Parish Family Mass will be on 29th November, please save the date.
Teach, Speak, Hear (TSH)
I would like to advise families that the current arrangements between our school and Teach, Speak, Hear (TSH) will conclude in their current form at the end of the existing agreement on 31st December 2027.
Until that time, our school will continue to work closely with TSH and Catholic Education Western Australia (CEWA) to support students and families and ensure continuity of learning and care.
I acknowledge the wonderful TSH staff that have supported our students and enriched our community over many years. We are committed to keeping families informed as planning progresses and will provide further updates as more information becomes available.
Personal Leave
I would like to let families know that during the upcoming school holidays I will be undergoing abdominal surgery. While this was not something I had anticipated, it is necessary and will require a period of recovery.
As a result, I will be taking sick leave at the commencement of Term Four and currently anticipate returning to school in Week 6. During my absence, Mrs Natasha Gregory will undertake the role of Short-Term Principal, while Mrs Louise Rimmer will step into the position of Assistant Principal.
I know our students, staff and families will be very well supported during this time. St Pius X is blessed with an outstanding team of dedicated educators and leaders and I have every confidence that the school is in very capable hands. Thank you in advance for your understanding and prayers as I focus on my recovery.
A Reminder About Student Attendance
We understand that every family occasionally experiences those busy mornings when plans change unexpectedly and arriving at school on time proves difficult.
A gentle reminder that if your child arrives at school after 8:45am, they are required to sign in at the school office by a parent or caregiver. This assists our teachers in maintaining accurate attendance records and helps prevent families from receiving notifications regarding an unexplained absence. Occasionally, attendance may have already been recorded by the classroom teacher, or a class may be attending a specialist lesson before their arrival has been updated in our system. In these instances, families may receive an absence notification. Signing in at the office helps ensure attendance records are updated correctly and avoids any unnecessary concern.
Kindergarten and Pre-Primary Sports Carnival
Congratulations to our Kindergarten and Pre-Primary students on their wonderful participation in last week’s Sports Carnival.
It was a delight to watch our youngest students approach each event with enthusiasm, determination and joy. I was particularly impressed by the excellent sportsmanship on display with students encouraging their teammates, celebrating each other’s successes and persevering when things did not quite go the way they had hoped.
It was also wonderful to see so many family members in attendance. The strong support from parents, grandparents and caregivers contributed greatly to the success of the afternoon. I am sure many would agree that some impressive athletic prowess was on display during the parents versus student races!
A sincere thank you to Mr Cooper for his coordination of the event, and to our dedicated Kindergarten and Pre-Primary staff for their care, encouragement and support of our students throughout the afternoon.
May God bless you and your families always.
In faith and friendship,
Jacki Tucker

Year 3 News
Year 3 students have been busy engaging in a variety of exciting learning experiences this term. In Mathematics, we are currently exploring mass and learning how it is measured in grams and kilograms. Through hands-on activities, students have been using scales and weights to measure and compare the mass of everyday objects, developing their understanding of measurement in practical and meaningful ways.
A few weeks ago, we were fortunate to visit Manning Library alongside several other classes to meet West Australian author and illustrator Kylie Howarth. Students thoroughly enjoyed hearing about Kylie’s journey to becoming an author and illustrator, as well as participating in an interactive drawing activity. It was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate reading, writing and creativity.
In Reading, we have begun our class novel study of The Wild Robot by Peter Brown. The story follows Roz, a robot who finds herself stranded on a remote island and must learn to survive while forming friendships with the animals around her. Students have been highly engaged in the novel and are developing their comprehension skills through discussions, predictions and exploring themes such as friendship, belonging and resilience.

P&F News & Thank You
Dear Parents/Guardians,
We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported our Book Fair! It was fantastic to see our school community get behind the event, and your support made such a wonderful difference. As a result, the P&F were thrilled to be able to donate close to $700 worth of brand-new books back to our school library! We hope the students enjoy discovering and reading their new books for years to come.
We also had a fantastic Father’s Day Stall, which was once again a big hit with the kids! It’s always wonderful to see how much they enjoy choosing a special gift for their dads, and we hope all the dads and father figures enjoyed receiving their thoughtful surprises.
And finally, to finish off the term, we have our Sports Carnival Sausage Sizzle next week! Sausages will be available for students, as well as family and friends coming along to cheer them on.
🌭 Don’t miss out! Make sure your orders are placed through FlexiSchools by September 11th, so you can enjoy a sausage sizzle on carnival day.
Thank you again to our wonderful school community for your continued support of the P&F. We couldn’t do it without you!
