The Truth about Family

Loving God, thank You for the gift of family, friendship and community.

Help us to be people who forgive as You forgive. When others make mistakes, give us understanding and compassion. When we make mistakes ourselves, help us to show ourselves the same kindness and grace.

Teach us to let go of hurt, to seek peace, and to have the courage to begin again. May our words and actions reflect Your love, and may our homes be places where forgiveness, patience and acceptance help each person to flourish.

Amen

Principal's News

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

This month, our URSTRONG focus is forgiveness. Forgiveness is an important part of building and maintaining healthy relationships, whether between friends, family members or colleagues.

Forgiveness is not only about the grace we extend to others, but also the grace we extend to ourselves. As parents and caregivers, it can be easy to focus on the things we wish we had done differently or moments where we feel we could have responded better. Yet parenting is a journey of learning, growth and constant adjustment. None of us get everything right all of the time, and that’s okay. Some of the most important lessons we can teach our children come from acknowledging our mistakes, showing ourselves kindness and trying again.

When children see the adults in their lives practising forgiveness, both towards others and themselves, they learn valuable lessons about empathy, resilience and the importance of moving forward with a hopeful heart.

Athletics Carnival

Last week’s Athletics Carnival was a wonderful celebration of participation, perseverance and school spirit. I would like to sincerely thank the many parents and caregivers who generously gave their time to support the day. Whether you were helping with the early morning set-up, cooking sausages, assisting in events throughout the day or packing away at the end, your contribution helped make the carnival such a success.

A special thank you goes to Mr Caleb Cooper for his outstanding coordination and organisation of the event. The day ran smoothly thanks to his leadership and the support of our staff team.

Most importantly, I was incredibly proud of our students. Their behaviour throughout the carnival was exemplary. They showed great respect towards one another, celebrated each other’s successes and demonstrated encouragement and sportsmanship across the day. Many students also displayed impressive courage and determination by participating in events that stretched them beyond their comfort zone.

These actions reflected our SEARCH values, particularly Authenticity and Courage, as students challenged themselves, supported their peers and remained true to who they are.

Communication Survey

We are continually looking for ways to strengthen communication between home and school. Families are invited to provide feedback regarding the ways in which they receive information from St Pius X and how we can continue to improve our communication practices.

Please take a few moments to complete the survey using the link below:

Communication at St Pius X Catholic Primary School – Fill out form

The survey will remain open until Friday 16 October at 12:00pm, after which the link will expire. Your feedback is greatly valued and will help inform future communication practices.

Uniform Reminder

Please find information regarding uniforms from our supplier, Uniform Concepts, later in this newsletter. I also encourage all families to take a moment to review the Uniform Guidelines available on our website: https://stpiusx.wa.edu.au/our-parents/uniform/

In particular, please refer to the requirements regarding school shoes when purchasing footwear for your child/ren. Consistency in our uniform standards helps promote safety, equity and a sense of pride in belonging to our school community.

Personal Items at School

A gentle reminder that students are not permitted to bring toys, games, collector cards or similar personal items to school unless specifically requested by their classroom teacher.

While we understand that children enjoy sharing their interests with friends, these items can easily become lost, damaged or misplaced, often causing unnecessary upset and distress. They can also become a distraction from learning and play and, at times, lead to disagreements between students. We are fortunate to have a wide range of resources and play opportunities available during break times and encourage students to make use of these throughout the school day.

School Improvements

During the upcoming holiday period, a number of works will be taking place around our school. This includes the demolition of our playground as we continue preparations for exciting improvements to our outdoor learning and play spaces.

We may even have a surprise or two waiting for students when they return for Term 4 and we look forward to sharing these developments with our community in the near future.

Planning for 2027

Families who may be planning to leave our school at the end of this year are asked to please notify the office. In line with our enrolment procedures, we request one term’s notice to support continuity of learning and ensure accurate planning for staffing and resource allocation.

Term 4

As mentioned in a previous newsletter, I will be undergoing abdominal surgery during the school holidays and currently plan to return to school in Week 6 of Term 4.

I would like to thank our community in advance for your support of Ms Natasha Gregory, who will assume the role of Short Term Principal during my absence, and Ms Louise Rimmer, who will be serving as Short Term Assistant Principal. I know our school community will be in excellent hands and I appreciate the kindness and support that you always extend to our leadership team.

Thank you for your ongoing partnership throughout what has been another busy and rewarding term. I wish all families a safe, restful and enjoyable holiday break and look forward to reconnecting with you all upon my return. Go Dockers!

In faith and friendship
