A Message from the Principal

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Welcome to Week 2 of Term 4. This Term is set to be a ripper with many exciting experiences ahead.  Our students have commenced their Edu-dance lessons which they absolutely love, we have a few classes heading off to various venues for their excursion, our Interschool Athletics Carnival takes place this Friday and our MacKillop Club students will be participating in the First Lego League competition shortly.

Sacrament of Reconciliation

Last Thursday night our Year 3 students participated in the Reconciliation Parent-Child Workshop which was facilitated by Mildred Reggio. Together with their parents, they unpacked the importance of forgiveness, making good choices, and maintaining positive relationships with family, friends and Jesus. May we keep our Year 3 students in our prayers as they prepare to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time.

Annual School Community Meeting

On Tuesday 14th November, at 6pm, we will be hosting our ACM in the school library. During this meeting, our Catholic School Advisory Chair and Treasurer will share their reports for the year. Additionally, I will present a Principal’s report which will highlight the achievements of our school over the year. It is also likely that staffing will be announced on the night.

Following the CSAC reports, our P&F President and Treasurer will present their annual reports which will outline the various events they have hosted in 2023, the associated expenses and income received, as well as what those funds have been put towards in the school.

At the conclusion of the meeting, nominations for the positions in the CSAC and P&F will be voted on and positions confirmed. For 2024, we require two new members of the CSAC and up to five new P&F members.

To nominate please complete the required form below and forward to the School Office, attention Principal – St Pius X Catholic Primary School, Cnr Ley Street and Cloister Avenue, Manning by 3.00pm on Wednesday 8 November 2023.

P & F Committee Nomination Form

If you haven’t already done so, please lock the time and date of our ACM into your calendars. We would love to see you there! After the meeting, we will gather in the undercover area for some nibbles and a drink.

Our dedicated P&F have a busy term ahead. The School Disco (Friday, Week 3) and Parents Breakfast (Friday, Week 5) are coming up shortly. Please get behind our P&F and support them in any way you can.

If you are interested in joining our P&F in 2024, please click here to fill in a nomination form before Wednesday 8th November 2023. At this stage it is looking like we will require a Chair, Deputy Chair, Treasurer and Event Coordinators next year. The P&F meet with the school leadership team twice a term and enlist the support of class representatives to garner further parent support make events happen. A number of the ladies on the current P&F have served our school community for several years, providing countless fun-filled, community building experiences, and deserve a much-needed break. Without parents, and dad’s that includes you, who are willing to serve on our P&F we cannot continue to provide the exciting experiences that build community and bring so much joy to our students and families.

Bike Week Event

Thank you to Michael Cain for organising and facilitating the St Pius X Bike Week Event which was held at George Burnett Cycle Track on Sunday afternoon. Despite it being a warmer than expected day, our eager SPX cyclists embraced the heat and tackled the track multiple times, completed the obstacle course laid out and fulfilled the ‘go slow’ challenge. We even had one of our junior primary students master the art of riding without training wheels. It was wonderful to see our students and families cycling together and connecting with one another in what is a beautiful park. Thank you to all the parents who weren’t deterred by the heat and brought their children along for a fun afternoon of cycling.

Mrs Keightley - Baby News

I am pleased to announce that we can finally reveal the gender of ‘Baby Taco’!!

On the last Thursday of the school holidays, Mrs Keightley gave birth to a beautiful baby boy named Sep. Mr and Mrs Keightley were absolutely overjoyed to finally welcome baby Sep into the world, their lives, and their home. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Mr and Mrs Keightley and their families. We wish them every blessing as they embark on their new vocation as parents, especially since they decided that bringing a puppy into the family at the same time as their newborn was a good idea. Fun times certainly await them, and little Sep and Aristotle will no doubt grow to share the strongest of bonds.

Here is a sneak peek of baby Sep, the most adorable baby boy.

Wishing all our families a wonderful week ahead.

Telethon Speech & Hearing - Loud Shirt Day

This year, Loud Shirt Day will take place at St. Pius X Catholic School in Week 3, on Friday 27th October. This day provides our school community with a fantastic opportunity to get loud and show your support for children with hearing loss around Australia.

If you would like to donate a gold coin, there will be a tin in the office for your gold coin.  Please support your child and have them wear their brightest shirt with our school sport shorts. For more information on Loud Shirt Day, please visit

Thank you for your ongoing support. We look forward to seeing everyone get loud!
