Prayer for All Saints Day

Dear God,

Thank you for the example of the Saints.
I desire to join in their company,
worshiping you forever in Heaven.

Please help me follow their footsteps,
and yours, Jesus Christ.

Please help me to conform
myself to Your image,
seeking Your will in all things,
as the Saints did.

Please help me to devote myself,
and all that I do, to Your glory,
and to the service of my neighbours.

Amen.

A Message from the Principal

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

All Saints and All Souls Day

This week is an important one in our Church calendar. This morning, our whole school gathered to celebrate All Saints Day. All Saints Day commemorates all the saints in heaven. It is a time whereby Catholics all around the world pause to reflect on the example saints offer us and to consider how we can imitate their lives.

All Souls Day, which is celebrated the day after All Saints Day, is a time believers remember, pray for, and offer Mass for the souls in Purgatory, that they may be purified and united with Christ in Heaven. Tomorrow morning, at 8am, it would be wonderful to have families attend our Parish Mass and join us in praying for all the faithful departed.

 Clontarf Aboriginal College

Last Sunday evening our Pre-Primary students, together with their families, enjoyed a lovely liturgy and dinner at Clontarf College. Thank you to Clontarf College for extending an invitation to our Pre-Primary students who have forged such a positive relationship with their buddies from Clontarf. The liturgy and dinner was a beautiful way to celebrate the partnership that has been formed between our schools. A special thank you to Mrs De Luca and Mrs Mandy Royce for planning and facilitating meaningful connections between our schools over the course of the year.

Year 1 Assembly

Congratulations to our Year 1s who entertained us with their ‘seasons’ assembly item. It was so lovely to see our Year 1s shining on the big stage. They spoke ever so clearly, maintaining excellent eye contact and expression throughout. Their singing and dancing certainly brought a smile to each of our faces and warmed our hearts. Thank you to Miss Ryan, Mrs Trimble and Mrs Mo for preparing the Year 1s so well and instilling such pride and confidence in them.

Teacher Appreciation Day

Across the globe, schools celebrated and acknowledged all the wonderful work, seen and unseen, that our teachers do for the benefit of their students. As I am sure you would all concur, the teachers here at St Pius X are second to none. The devotion and commitment to ensuring each child is seen, heard, celebrated, and supported to achieve their full potential is evident across all year levels. Thank you to every one of our teachers and to our P&F for providing morning tea in appreciation of all that our teachers do.

P&F Parents Breakfast

Next Friday morning, our P&F will be hosting the SPX Parents Breakfast. We look forward to coming together to share a cuppa, a bite to eat and enjoy one another’s company.

Kiss and Drive

Over the past couple of weeks, we have had grandparents park in the Kiss and Drive area and leave their vehicle to pick up their grandchildren. Parents, can you please inform those picking up your children that they cannot park in the Kiss and Drive zone.

Also, can I please ask that if your child is not ready and waiting for you when you arrive in Kiss and Drive that you do a lap around the block. This will greatly reduce the congestion experienced at the roundabout leading up to Kiss and Drive. Your cooperation in this matter will be of great benefit to our whole community.

School Disco

As if last Friday wasn’t exciting and busy enough, it was capped off with a fantastic ‘Glowtastic Disco’. The green glasses and glow wristbands which the students received upon entry certainly set the tone for the evening. A wonderful night was had by all, including Mrs Gregory and Miss Cohen who danced the night away with the students.

Thank you to our P&F and parent representatives who worked tirelessly in the lead up to the disco to make the night such an enjoyable and memorable one for our students. Your efforts are very much appreciated by our whole school community.

Loud Shirt Day

On Friday, St Pius X turned into a sea of colour in support of Loud Shirt Day. We were very fortunate to have Mrs Marshall from Telethon Speech and Hearing address our school during Assembly and tell us about the importance of Loud Shirt Day and remind us to be mindful of how we speak to people with hearing difficulties. Thank you to all our parents for getting behind Loud Shirt Day by sending your children to school in bright and colourful shirts and donating to Telethon Speech and Hearing. Thank you to our students for being so very inclusive and compassionate to all members of our school community and for participating in the Loud Shirt Design Competition. Well done to all our winners and congratulations to Emme who did a sensational job assisting Mrs Marshall to announce the winners in each year level.

If you are not able to join our parish community for Mass tomorrow morning, I invite you take a moment to think of and pray for all the faithful departed that they may be united with Christ and have eternal life.

God bless,

Melissa Vranjes
Principal

Clontarf College Community Liturgy and Dinner

Our friends at Clontarf College invited the Pre-Primary students, their families and St Pius X staff to a Community Liturgy and Dinner on Sunday.

The Liturgy was celebrated in the beautiful Mia Marmun Yira Chapel. We enjoyed music from the Queen of Apostles musicians, with readings and prayers offered by Clontarf and St Pius X students. Pre-Primary were invited to share a song, which they loved!

Following the Liturgy, our families were able to view the amenities of the Boarding House, Ngulla Mia, and enjoy a shared dinner with students and staff. The dinner was amazing- chicken, steak, sausages, chick pea patties, salads, fruit and cake. What a spread!

We thank Miss Frances, Principal of Clontarf, for generously sharing dinner with us. Thanks also to Mandy Coleman, Salvatore De Luca and the Boarding House staff and students for welcoming us into your community.

Thanks also to the St Pius X staff members who attended and to the wonderful families of Pre-Primary. We love your enthusiasm and support for this special community relationship.
