Dear Parents and Caregivers,

We are steamrolling our way to the end of Term 4. Wouldn’t it be lovely if time could slow down just a little for us. This coming Sunday marks the end of ordinary time in our Church calendar and the following Sunday signifies the first week of Advent!! Before we know it, it will be Christmas.

Parents Breakfast
We had such a great turnout for our P&F Parents Breakfast last Friday. It was such a beautiful way to start our day, in communion with one another; we truly brought our school motto ‘faith and friendship’ alive.  Our Year 6 students did an exceptional job serving the food, running the raffles and doing the emcee role. We are also appreciative of our wonderful P&F and parent helpers who were here bright and early getting the food prepared and setting up the tables. Thank you to all who attended and assisted on the day; your presence and contributions made for a beautiful morning of connection and community building.

Year 2 Assembly
Our Year 2 students blew us away with their narrative writing skills, oratory and acting skills at last Friday’s Assembly. It was such a delight to hear snippets of their stories being read out whilst students acted out the script. We certainly have some budding authors and actors in our midst. I look forward to reading their captivating narratives from beginning to end.

Remembrance Day Service
Last Tuesday, our Year 6 students reverently led our school in the Remembrance Day Ceremony. All students showed respect throughout the ceremony and silently observed the one minute of silence. As they walked back to class, they silently said a prayer for the servicemen and service women who lost their lives whilst trying to restore peace in the world.

First Lego League
On Friday morning, I had the pleasure of joining our MacKillop Club students at the ‘Curtin University First Lego League Competition’ which was hosted by Woodvale Secondary College. I was impressed by our students’ problem-solving skills, agility, resilience, teamwork and presentation skills. I was fortunate enough to arrive in time for our students’ presentation to the panel. They spoke confidently and articulately, comprehensively explaining the theme they chose and the processes they undertook to code their robots to meet the prescribed criteria. I also observed the teams competing in one of the missions. They remained calm under pressure and responded to unforeseen challenges in a timely, effective manner. As a result or their solid preparation and teamwork, they proceeded to the next round and won the ‘innovation award’.

We are so proud of our MacKillop students and immensely grateful to Mrs Matthews for her guidance and support during the preparation process. All those after school sessions paid off!

Year 6 Leadership Speeches

On Monday afternoon, our Year 5 students presented their leadership speeches in front of the Yr 3-6 classes, Mrs Gregory and I. We were so pleased with the calibre of the speeches. It was evident our Year 5s put a lot of thought, effort and preparation into them. Their delivery was flawless; they spoke confidently, expressively and authentically, maintaining eye contact throughout. The way they demonstrated their attributes and leadership qualities through lived examples was commendable. The counting and waiting begins! All will be revealed in due course but irrespective of whether our Year 5s are graced with a formal leadership role or not, they are ALL leaders and will be given countless opportunities to develop and exercise leadership throughout 2026.

This is a final reminder that school fees are now overdue and must be paid in full, immediately. Please note that no additional reminders or follow-ups will be issued. Failure to make payment may result in escalation procedures as outlined in the school’s policy. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Feast of Christ the King
This Sunday, Catholics around the world will be celebrating the Feast of Christ the King.

Our liturgical year is ordered in such a way that leads us through the entire mystery of salvation won for us in Christ. Each liturgical year begins with Advent, when we ponder the Incarnation that leads us to the celebration of Jesus’ birth at Christmas. Following Christmas, we enter into the public ministry of Christ during Ordinary Time, which begins with the feast of His Baptism. In the midst of Ordinary Time, we enter the deepest paschal mystery of Lent and Easter, culminating with the Triduum of Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday. The Easter Season concludes with Christ’s Ascension and Pentecost, the beginning of the Church. Finally, after the rest of Ordinary Time, we come to the great Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, commonly referred to as the ‘Feast of Christ the King’.

The liturgical Feast of Christ the King was added to the Church calendar in 1925, when Pope Pius XI instituted it with his encyclical Quas Primas. Upon seeing the rise of secularism after World War I, Pope Pius XI felt the need to remind the Church and the world that there is only one King, and that King is not only the King of Catholics, He is the King of humanity, of the entire Universe.

When Jesus walked the earth, He chose not to forcibly impose His divine authority and rule upon nations. Instead, He instituted the Kingdom of God as a spiritual reality in which we are all called to voluntarily participate. Those who do participate are called to work to establish Christ’s Kingdom on earth, here and now, by living according to the will of God.

Jesus, our Saviour, is the model of Christian living. He Himself said, “I came down from heaven not to do my own will but the will of the one who sent me”  (John 6:38). Just as the Son of God did His Father’s will while on the earth, so must we for it is only in Christ that we find peace, unity, harmony, and true purpose. The ideal society can only become a reality if every individual is governed by and submits to the will of God.

The final aspect of the Feast of Christ the King points us to the end of time when Jesus, the great King, will return in all His splendour to “judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end” (Creed).

As the Feast of Christ the King approaches, I encourage you to spend some time in prayer and reflection, asking yourself:

• Do I recognise Christ as King and allow Him to be King of my heart?
• Do I follow Christ’s example of humble service and selflessness in my family, community and or workplace?
• Do I show and value kindness, compassion, love, humility and mercy over power, wealth and success?
• In what parts of my life can I better live out the will of God?

Engaging in such reflection will assist us all to grow closer to God and to prepare our hearts for the Advent season.

Our Community Christmas Tree located in the garden area, between the lower and upper play areas. We invite the community to start bringing in a homemade, a nature or a recycled Christmas ornament to decorate the tree.
