“The fruit of silence is prayer, the fruit of prayer is faith, the fruit of faith is love, the fruit of love is service, the fruit of service is peace.”

Mother Teresa

Dear Lord,
I know you receive what is in my heart.
Let me be inspired by your words
and by the actions of your son, Jesus.

Guide me to make sacrifices this Lent
in the spirit of self-denial
and with greater attention to you
and to those around me.

Guide me to seek your love,
and grow ever closer to you this Lenten season.

A Message from the Principal

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

What a warm start to the year we have had! I do not recall a summer in which we have had so many days with temperatures above 40 degrees. I hope you have managed to keep reasonably cool over the past few weeks. Our students have been exceptional; they have graciously accepted that they cannot go out and play during the extreme heat and have embraced the free play time in their air-conditioned classrooms.

Shrove Tuesday

The smell of freshly made pancakes wafted through our school last Tuesday as our students reflected on the significance of the day and prepared for the coming Lenten season. As I made my way through the school, the students happily contributed to making the pancakes and thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful of their creation. I am sure you heard all about it on the walk or drive home on Tuesday.

Ash Wednesday

Congratulations to our Year 6 students who read ever so beautifully at Mass on Wednesday. They have really stepped up in their role as leaders and showed reverence throughout the entire Mass. We are very proud of each of you.

We are one week into the Lenten season already. I hope that as families, you each take the time to reflect on the presence of Jesus in your lives and how each member is engaging in acts of charity, prayer and fasting. Whilst our children may wish to give up eating something during the Lenten period, they may wish to give up an activity they enjoy instead, such as playing games on the iPad. Regularly revisiting the meaning of Lent will help our children grow closer to Christ and help them to be others focused.

Swimming Trials

Thank you to our parents who braved the heat and assisted with the swimming trials last Thursday. Without your support, it would not have been possible to go ahead with the trials.

Thank you to our students who conducted themselves with such grace and discipline. The Year 3s in particular had a positive attitude despite it being their first experience and the pool being deeper than what perhaps they were accustomed to.

An especially big thank you to Mr Cooper for his efforts in planning and running the swimming trials.

Year 6 Youth Leadership Forum

On Friday, our Year 6s will be heading to the Perth Convention Centre to participate in the Youth Leadership Forum. We look forward to hearing all about their experiences and key take-aways from the day.

School Disco

The excitement is certainly building as our whole school disco draws closer. We look forward to seeing all our students back here on Friday to dance the night away. Thank you to our P&F for their work in getting everything ready for the disco.

Kiss and Drive

A gentle reminder that if your child is not ready and waiting for you at Kiss and Drive to do a lap around the block. Cars waiting in Kiss and Drive cause significant congestion and make the roads up to and around the roundabout unsafe for all.

If parents or grandparents need to use the toilets when dropping off or picking up children, can you please either use the disabled toilet or come up to the admin block and use the staff toilets. In the name of student safety, is important that no adults use the children’s toilets at any time.  Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Last Friday we had the pleasure of being joined by Cliff Chalon and Ralph Ditton from the Catenian Association. Mr Chalon and Mr Ditton generously donated money to families of St Pius X last year. During our Assembly, they shared how their charitable work with the Catenian Association enables them to make a positive difference in the lives of people in our community. We are grateful for the wonderful work these gentlemen do to serve others.

At the end of the Assembly, Fr Patrick kindly blessed our students, staff and school. Each teacher received a candle, symbolising the light of Christ, and led their class back to the classroom.  Fr Patrick then visited each class, blessing the classroom and students. May Christ always be in our hearts and minds, guiding our every thought and action. Thank you to Father Patrick for giving up his time to bless our school community.

Wishing you all a gentle end to the week.

God Bless,

Melissa Vranjes

Look what's been happening in Pre Kindy

The Pre-Kindy children have had a wonderful introduction to St Pius X! Each week the children have been invited to wear clothing of a specific colour with learning experiences to match. Last week the children went for a treasure hunt around the classroom for red and pink objects and wore these funny glasses for it.

The children have loved experiencing indoor and outdoor learning experiences and are getting to know new friends in their class.

The staff are thrilled with the way the children have settled into their new class and are looking forward to a year filled with play, fun, collaboration and exciting discoveries!

Student Achievements

Surf Life Savers

Sisters, Riley (Year 6) and Alice (Year 3) recently qualified for the upcoming Surf Life Saving State Titles.  They will compete in the beach swimming, board races, flag race and beach sprint events.

This is Riley and Alice’s first year doing Surf Life Saving so to have qualified for the state titles is a massive achievement!

Congratulations on qualifying girls and we wish you all the very best during the competition. We look forward to being updated on your progress.
