A Message from the Principal

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are well and truly on the homeward stretch to Easter and the school holidays.

Interim Parent-Teacher Meetings

In the coming two weeks our teachers will be conducting phone meetings with parents to discuss the progress of their children. I am sure you will find these meetings to be incredibly beneficial and insightful. Please keep an eye out for your child’s interim report which will be sent home with the students on Monday 28th March.

It is hard to believe we are already in the third week of Lent. In and amongst the busyness of life, I hope you have been able to make time to engage in prayer and converse with Christ each day; that you have intentionally enacted acts of kindness and charity; and perhaps even fasted.

During this period of Lent, I have made a concerted effort to read and reflect upon scripture, and to pause and listen to God’s voice in the depths of my heart. It never ceases to amaze me how much peace, love and joy emanates from coming to know Jesus better through the scriptures and prayer.

I recently read Fr Rob Galea’s book, ‘Breakthrough’. In his autobiography, Fr Rob shares the ACTSSS model of prayer which I would like, in turn, to share with you:

Adoration: three minutes adoring God for who He is

Confession: three minutes confessing your sins and your need for Him to walk with you every moment of every day

Thanksgiving: three minutes expressing gratitude for what God has done for you in your life

Supplication: three minutes praying for the needs of others

Silence: three minutes in absolute silence listening to God speak in your heart

Scripture: the last three minutes reading a passage from the Bible

I invite you to give this prayer model a go yourselves in the lead up to Holy Week and beyond. If you too would like to come to know Jesus better through the scriptures but are unsure of where to start or are short in time, you might like to listen to the ‘Catholic Influencers Podcast’ on your way to or from work. I am currently listening to Season 2. In this particular season, Fr Rob and his Victorian co-hosts read a passage of scripture, unpack the context in which it was written and assist listeners to make meaning of it and understand its applications in our lives. I can’t attest to the other seasons as I am only mid- way through Season 2 and have not listened to any of the other seasons as yet.

Wishing you every blessing,

Melissa Vranjes
