A Blessing for Mothers

Lord, thank you for the gift of my mother.
Thank you for her love and care for me,
for her sacrifices for me, and for all she does for me.
I ask that you bless her abundantly.

May You continue to bless her all of her days
and bless and guide her in all her endeavours.
May You grant her strength of mind and body,
peace of heart and mind,
and a faith that is strong and unyielding.

May you protect and watch over her always and keep her safe from harm.
May she grow more in love with You each day that passes
and may she enter Your eternal Kingdom when her time on earth is complete.

Amen.

A Message from the Principal

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Welcome back to Term 2! I hope you all had a lovely Easter and are enjoying the relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions.

COVID Update

Masks:

As you would be well and truly aware, students and staff are no longer required to wear masks whilst at school. Nevertheless, many of us will continue to wear masks as an additional protective measure. Where physical distancing is not possible, adults on site will be encouraged to wear a mask.

Self-reporting Portal:

Parents are still required to inform the school, via the Self-Reporting Portal, if their child tests positive to COVID-19. Any COVID positive students must isolate for the mandated seven days and remain home until they are well and free of symptoms. Parents must also report their child’s positive RAT to WA Health.

If a household member has tested positive to COVID-19 but your child has tested negative, please indicate this via the Self-Reporting Portal to further support our school in the management of COVID-19. Continue to administer a RAT for your child at the start of each day, for the required seven days, and encourage your child to wear a mask to school during that time.

Close contact definition:

A close contact is now defined as:

  • A household member or intimate partner of a person with COVID-19 who has had contact with them during their infectious period.
  • Someone who has had close personal interaction with a person with COVID-19 during their infectious period where:
  • they spent greater than 4 hours of cumulative contact with them in any 24-hour period in a residential setting (for instance a home or accommodation facility).
  • where masks have been removed by both people during the period of contact.
  • Someone who is directed by WA Health that they are a close contact.

Asymptomatic close contacts are not required to isolate but do have to follow testing and mask wearing requirements.

Parents onsite:

In addition to dropping off and picking up students, parents are now permitted to:

  • Enter classrooms and provide classroom support
  • Attend assemblies and special event gatherings
  • Attend face-to-face parent/teacher meetings
  • Attend and spectate at school sporting events
  • Attend School Advisory and P&F Meetings

Confirmation Commitment Mass

It was so lovely to see our Year 6 students and their families at our parish church on Saturday night. Witnessing our Year 6 students go up to the altar and profess their commitment to following Jesus, was heart-warming and reflected the depth of their spiritual maturity. May we all keep our Year 6 students who are preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation in our prayers.

We look forward to seeing our Confirmation candidates and their parents at the upcoming Confirmation Workshop on Thursday, 12th May at 6pm in our Parish Hall.

Cross Country Training

Well done to all our Year 3-6 students who have been braving the cold and participating in the cross-country training sessions on Tuesday and Thursday mornings between 7.50-8.30am. There’s no better way to start the day than engaging in physical activity with your peers. It will be rewarding for each of you to feel your fitness levels improving over the coming weeks.

Monday Assembly

It was so nice to be able to come together as a whole school for our Monday Assembly, this week. Our Year 6s, who had become quite accustomed to leading Assembly through a screen, led us through the reports so confidently and articulately. Keep up the amazing leadership, Year 6s.

The focus of our Monday Assembly was on the school value of Authenticity. Miss Thomson reminded our students that Authenticity is about being true to yourself, listening to your inner moral compass, paying attention to your conscience when making decisions and leading by example. At the end of each day, our students are encouraged to reflect upon how well their thoughts, behaviours and actions throughout the day align with their moral compass and conscience.

Canteen

Thank you to the parents who have volunteered to help out in the canteen on Fridays. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.  The 11.30-1.30pm blocks, for the coming weeks, have not been filled so if you happen to be available to lend a helping hand, please pop your name on the register outside the canteen.

Mother’s Day Stall

Thank you to our P&F for coordinating our Mother’s Day Stall which will be conducted in the undercover area tomorrow morning. We are grateful for the time and energy you have put into organising the gifts and coordinating the stall.

Mother’s Day Liturgy

With the relaxing of restrictions, our whole school can attend and participate in the Year 3 led Mother’s Day Liturgy, this Friday morning. Our mums are most welcome to join us! It will be the first time we have been able to come together all year, making the celebration that extra bit special!

We wish our St Pius X mums a blessed Mother’s Day; we hope you know just how much you are loved and appreciated by your beautiful children and by your wider school family!!

God bless,

Melissa Vranjes
