Loving God,
We thank You for the gift of family and for the moments we share together. Help us to slow down, to be present with one another and to notice the joy found in simple times of connection.
Bless our school community and our families. May we grow in love, gratitude and care as we journey together each day.
Amen
A Message from the Principal
Dear Families and Caregivers,
Mother’s Day gave me a moment to pause and reflect. Over the weekend, my family spent time with my Mum and Dad, sharing a simple picnic in the sunshine. There was nothing elaborate, just the gift of being together, talking, laughing and enjoying one another’s company.
It reminded me how easy it can be to get caught up in busyness and how precious it is to slow down and be truly present with the people we love. While cards and gifts are always appreciated, it is the shared moments and sense of connection that stay with us long after the day has passed. Being together across generations also deepened my gratitude for the opportunity to be a mum, a role that continues to shape and enrich my life.
This reflection was echoed in the Gospel from last Sunday, which gently reminds us that love is shown through presence, care and relationship often lived out in very ordinary moments.
UR Strong – May Focus: Diversity
Our UR Strong focus for May is Diversity. Learning to appreciate diversity helps children develop empathy, respect and understanding, recognising that each person brings unique gifts and experiences to our community.
Families can support this focus at home by encouraging open and respectful conversations about differences, reading stories that reflect a range of cultures and experiences, modelling kindness and inclusion and helping children see difference as something to value and celebrate. When children learn to appreciate diversity, they build stronger relationships and grow into compassionate and inclusive individuals.
Mother’s Day Stall and Mass
Thank you to our P and F and parent volunteers who supported the Mother’s Day stall. Your generosity and time helped make this a special experience for our students and families.
We also thank our Year 4 students for leading us so beautifully at Mass on Friday and our choir whose singing added greatly to the celebration.
School Choir
Choir rehearsals for the remainder of the term will be held on 7th May, 14th May, 28th May, 4th June and 11th June. Students will receive a Choir Commitment note this week to confirm their participation for the remainder of the year.
Rehearsals continue to be filled with enthusiasm, joy and a strong sense of community. Students from Year 2 to Year 6 are encouraged to attend and Year 1 students are also very welcome should they wish to participate.
Cold and Flu Season
As we move into the cooler months, we are beginning to see the arrival of cold and flu season. This is a timely reminder to support our children in maintaining good hygiene practices. Families are encouraged to take time to revise hand washing routines with children, including washing hands before eating, after using the bathroom and after coughing or sneezing. If your child becomes unwell, we kindly ask that they are kept at home to rest and recover until they are feeling better and are no longer contagious. This helps protect the health and wellbeing of all members of our school community.
After School Exits and Keeping Safe
A reminder that the Ley Street gate is the exit point for all after-school activities including sports training, instrumental lessons and clubs.
We also remind families that adults are asked not to use student toilets. Should a parent or younger child need to access a bathroom, please use the All-Access toilet cubicle which is located next to the student toilets. Thank you for helping us maintain a safe environment for our students.
Cross Country Event
Our PP to Year 6 Cross Country event will be held on Thursday at 12.30 pm at James Miller Reserve. We are hopeful that the lovely weather holds and look forward to an afternoon of participation and fun.
Kindergarten Enrolments
We are currently preparing for interviews for Kindergarten places in 2026. Families are encouraged to share this information with friends and family to help our beautiful community continue to grow.
With God’s blessings to you and your families.

Year 2 News
Our Desk Box Creations – the Year 2 students recently became young designers and problem-solvers during a Design and Technologies activity focused on improving organisation in the classroom. After noticing that stationery was taking up too much desk space, the children worked together to design and create their own “Desk Boxes”.
Throughout the project, students identified a problem, shared ideas, planned their designs, created models and reflected on how well their solutions worked. The Desk Boxes were designed to neatly store important classroom tools such as pencils, scissors and glue.
The children showed wonderful creativity, teamwork and problem-solving skills throughout the design process. Their Desk Boxes are already helping to keep desks tidier, make materials easier to organise and store.

Drama News
Students in Years 1–3 a have been enthusiastically participating in Drama sessions each Wednesday in the SEARCH room. Each session begins with engaging warm-up activities such as Emotion Walks, Pass the Action, and Mirroring, helping students build confidence, creativity, and teamwork skills.
Students have been working very hard in preparation for the Catholic Performing Arts Festival, where they will be participating in the Choral Speech section. They have been focusing on developing their expression, actions and performance skills and it has been wonderful to see their confidence continue to grow each week.
The participation, enthusiasm and energy shown by each group has been remarkable and I am very proud of the effort and positivity students bring to every session. I look forward to seeing them showcase their talents at the festival!
