A Message from the Principal
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
It has been a busy couple of weeks here at SPX.
Travelling Mary
This month, our ‘Travelling Mary’ statue has been making her way around the school, spending time in each classroom. During her stay, our staff and students prayed the Rosary together and reflected on the significance of our Blessed Mother in our Catholic faith.
As the month of May slowly draws to a close, it would be a wonderful opportunity for families to come together to pray the Rosary and call upon Mary to pray to Jesus for your family’s intentions.
NAPLAN
Well done to our Year 3 and Year 5 students for participating in the online NAPLAN assessments. You all maintained a sense of calm during the assessment period and applied yourselves wholeheartedly which is all anyone could ask of you.
Cross Country
Good luck to all our students who will be participating in the Cross Country tomorrow. All those early morning training sessions have finally culminated to the big event. Let’s just pray for clear skies!! I know that regardless of the weather, you will all do yourselves, your family and our school proud by putting in your best effort and living out our SEARCH values. Encourage one another and be proud of your achievements, irrespective of what place you come. Thank you to Mrs Matthews for the time you have devoted to preparing the students and coordinating the event.
COVID Update
Self-reporting Portal:
A big thank you to our parents who have informed the school of any COVID-19 positive cases in their family and filled out the form on the CEWA Self-Reporting Portal. Any COVID positive students must isolate for the mandated seven days and remain home until they are well and free of symptoms. Parents must also report their child’s positive RAT to WA Health.
If a household member has tested positive to COVID-19 but your child has tested negative, please indicate this via the Self-Reporting Portal to further support our school in the management of COVID-19. Continue to administer a RAT for your child at the start of each day, for the required seven days, and encourage your child to wear a mask to school during that time.

Rapid Antigen Tests
This morning, the last of our government donated RATs were delivered. Each family is welcome to come and collect a box of 20 RATs from the Office.
If your child is displaying symptoms please keep them home until they fully recover, even if they return a negative RAT.
Year 2 Assembly
Congratulations to our Year 2s for presenting an entertaining and educational Assembly item on Superheroes. You all spoke with confidence and clearly articulated how St Pius X students can be superheroes by living out our school’s SEARCH values. Thank you to Ms Christian and Miss Punch for preparing and assisting the students.
God bless,
Melissa Vranjes
Principal
