Dear Families and Caregivers

Growing Our Community

Over the past couple of weeks, I have been conducting Kindergarten interviews for 2028. One question I consistently ask families is, “Why did you choose St Pius X?” The overwhelming response has been that a friend, neighbour, or even someone they met at the local library spoke positively about our school and shared how wonderful their experience has been. Families often say, “We want that for our child.” This speaks volumes about the strength and spirit of our community.

Thank you for the way you speak about our school and for the positive recommendations you share with others. It is these conversations that continue to build the welcoming, connected and vibrant community we value so highly at St Pius X.

We currently still have a small number of places available for Kindergarten 2027 however, these are filling quickly. If you know of families who may be interested, please encourage them to contact Yvonne in the school office.

First Holy Communion

Please keep our students who will soon be receiving their First Holy Communion in your prayers. This is a very special time in their faith journey and we ask God to bless them as they prepare to receive Jesus for the first time.

Toy Swap

We were also delighted to see the wonderful success of last week’s Toy Swap event. A sincere thank you to our dedicated Sustainability Team for their thoughtful coordination and organisation and to all our families and caregivers for their generous support and participation. Through simple yet meaningful actions like these, we continue to live out the call of Laudato Si’—caring for our common home, reducing waste and fostering a spirit of shared responsibility and community.

Cross Country Interschool Carnival

Our recent Cross Country Interschool Carnival was a wonderful success, and we are incredibly proud of all students who represented St Pius X. They demonstrated our SEARCH value of Excellence not only through their strong athletic performances but also in the way they supported one another and conducted themselves throughout the event.

Congratulations to all students who participated and gave their very best. A special acknowledgment goes to Mr Cooper for his dedication in preparing our students and for his leadership in coordinating the team.

National Simultaneous Story Time

This week, our students joined thousands of children across Australia in participating in National Simultaneous Story Time. Mr Stone shared the story Luna Roo by Adam Wallace and Adrian Beck and it was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate reading together as a whole school community and to be part of a nationwide event that fosters a love of books and storytelling.

Pupil Free Day Reminder

A reminder to families that Tuesday 2nd June is a pupil free day for both students and staff. We hope our students enjoy the extra-long weekend and look forward to welcoming them back to school on Wednesday.

UR Strong – June Focus: Trust

Our UR Strong focus for June is Trust, an important foundation for healthy and positive friendships. Understanding trust helps children feel safe, build stronger relationships and navigate challenges with confidence.

Families can support this learning at home by:

• Talking about what it means to be a trustworthy friend
• Encouraging children to follow through on promises and commitments
• Discussing how trust can be built, broken and repaired
• Using phrases from the UR Strong program such as “I can trust this friend with my feelings” or “That didn’t feel trustworthy”

P&F Movie Night

Our students are looking forward to our upcoming P&F Movie Night on Friday 5th June. We thank our wonderful P&F and all those involved in organising what promises to be a fun and community-building evening. We encourage families to support this event and refer to the notice later in the newsletter for further details.

Parent Information Session – Raising Selfless Leaders

A reminder to all families about our parent information session which will be held this evening in the school library at 6.30 pm. All parents and caregivers are warmly invited to attend. We look forward to an engaging and valuable session together.

We have been very busy in Year One this term!

In Religion, we have been learning about the Eucharist. We learnt that when we go to Mass, we remember the Last Supper that Jesus shared with his disciples. We know that receiving Communion helps us feel close to God. Jesus teaches us to help others, say sorry when we make mistakes, forgive one another and always be kind.

In Mathematics, we have been learning about addition and subtraction. We have been using fun strategies and hands‑on materials to help us work out numbers and explain our thinking. We are getting better at choosing strategies that help us solve problems.

In HASS, we have been learning that all families are different and special. We designed a family crest with pictures showing what is important to our families. We also drew our family trees to show how we are connected to the people in our family.

We have really enjoyed our learning and are proud of the progress we have made this term!

Thank you to our students, parents, and caregivers for your support. It was wonderful to see the joy on the children’s faces as they participated in reducing waste and recycling pre-loved toys.

6. Apply promotional codes that children may have earned from previous issues
7. Make a payment via credit card. Please note a 1% surcharge applies to all card payments.
